Potential cattle-processing center rustles up beef among Lincoln County residents

The Lincoln County Commission has delayed a decision on whether to rezone a plot of land for a planned beef processing center drawing opposition from some residents of nearby Worthing.

 

The rezoning application, which had a second reading and public hearing at Tuesday morning’s meeting, would rezone an area of about 20 acres for the construction of the center by East Dakota Beef.

 

Documents submitted to the commission say the center, which would be located near the intersection of 281st Street and 471st Avenue, would process cattle, and have the ability to grind beef and manufacture pre-seasoned roasts, with plans to sell to both retailers and consumers.
