Farmers, ranchers, processors the beef industry involves thousands of Americans, all of whom have an important role to play in keeping food on families' tables and keeping our economy strong. According to USDA, cattle production is expected to account for 17 percent of the of the $391 billion in total cash receipts for agricultural commodities for 2021. The United States is both the world's largest producer and largest consumer of beef. Beef is an important source of nutrients that are vital for supporting good health, such as protein, Vitamin B12, zinc, iron, phosphorus, and selenium. And its not just about hamburger and steak: foods containing gelatin (including ice cream and marshmallows), chewing gum, medicines, and soaps are among the many derivative products that rely upon the beef industry.
