1 in custody, 1 injured in shooting at Pilgrim's Pride in Sumter

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is currently on scene at a large chicken production company off U.S. 15 in response to a shooting incident that is no longer active.

 

One man sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, said Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

 

The call about the shooting came in at about 10:45 a.m. Based on preliminary information, it appeared the incident started as a fight in the parking lot of Pilgrim's Pride, Sarvis said. It appeared the three individuals involved in this incident are acquaintances, according to initial reports from law enforcement.

Sumter County deputies announce arrest from Pilgrim’s Pride shooting Monday morning

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says a man has been arrested in connection with Monday morning’s shooting at Pilgrims’s Pride that sent a man to the hospital. Authorities say 18-year-old Jeffrey Laverne Green Jr. was arrested, accused of shooting the victim after a physical altercation in the parking lot of Pilgrim’s Pride, located off U.S. 15 South.

 

Investigators say the shooting occurred around 10:45 a.m. Monday. According to officials, the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
