OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — One of the biggest businesses in the country now offering free grocery delivery as part of its new membership program. Walmart plus comes with a 98-dollar a year and has been on the market for about a month now. A spokesperson tells Fox 25 Consumer Watch in that time, free grocery delivery on orders over $35 has been a winner.

“What that means is they can get an unlimited number of deliveries made to their door from a Walmart store. That includes things like groceries-- so your everyday items that you need like milk, eggs, bread. It also includes general merchandise and consumables, so you can throw in your shampoo and conditioner, a toy for that birthday party that you are headed to this weekend, or even the birthday cake,” says Molly Blakeman, Walmart Spokesperson.

Members of Walmart Plus can also use the scan and go option. It allows shoppers to scan their items as they shop and then pay on the app to make the process touch-free. Something the company says was important to customers during the pandemic.

“We built it with customers in mind, so we asked them what they would want. what would be most beneficial to them from a membership program from Walmart,” says Blakeman.

Walmart says making use of the free delivery more than once a month means the membership is already paying for itself with some people opting for a once a week delivery.
