A surge in coronavirus cases in the U.S. and Brazil, and further outbreaks in Germany ó where the reproduction rate of the disease has risen substantially ó are concerning global health experts, but international financial markets donít seem too worried.
The largest single-day increase in global coronavirus cases was recorded on Sunday, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), after more than 183,000 new cases were reported worldwide.
Brazil, with nearly 55,000 new infections, saw the largest number of cases reported, followed by the U.S., with more than 36,000 new cases reported Sunday. India, meanwhile, saw more than 15,000 new infections, the WHO said.
It should be noted that increases in the numbers of coronavirus cases could be down to increased and more widespread testing, and also anomalies in data collection. Brazilís large spike in cases on Sunday, for instance, was in part due to a lag in reporting from three states (Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo) compounding data from two days, WHO noted.
Nonetheless, the surge in cases does not appear to be a one off...

Germanyís infection rate rose for a third day, lifted by local outbreaks including many at a slaughterhouse. Brazilís death toll from the coronavirus surpassed 50,000, while Peruís more than 51,000 cases exceeded those of Spain.
Overall, the Americas accounted for almost two-thirds of new cases reported by the World Health Organization on Sunday. The eastern Mediterranean region, including the Middle East, represented 10% and Europe had 9.8% of new infections.
Beijing reported nine new infections, a sign that a recent outbreak is under control. China blocked poultry from a Tyson Foods plant where many workers tested positive. Russian infections and deaths also flattened...
