24% of Smithfield workers, close contacts tested positive at drive thru testing

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The South Dakota Department of Health reports that 24 percent of the 3,700 Smithfield workers and close contacts tested positive for the coronavirus.
There were mass testing events last week at Washington High School in preparation for the reopening of the Sioux Falls Smithfield packing plant.
The state is now ramping up testing for people in long term care facilities.
