Starbucks is expanding its dairy-free beverage repertoire with the introduction of three new vegan signature drinks: Almond Milk Honey Flat White (ristretto shots of blonde espresso, with steamed almond milk and “a hint of honey”), Coconut Milk Latte (shots of blonde espresso, steamed coconut milk and topped with cascara sugar), and the Oat Milk Honey Latte (shots of blonde espresso, with steamed oat milk and “a hint of honey” with a toasted honey topping, which is only available in the Midwest). The drinks will appear on Starbucks menus starting Jan. 7.
With the rise of vegan meat alternatives, restaurant chains are scrambling to release animal product-free menu items, and Starbucks is no exception. Although the coffee chain offered dairy-free customizations of most of its drinks before, this is the first time nondairy beverages have made it onto the permanent menu board.
Starbucks first introduced oat milk — the new trendy milk alternative that has seemingly supplanted almond milk in popularity — to select Starbucks Reserve stores and Starbucks Princi Bakeries in March 2019.
