Farmers for Free Trade has announced a new campaign focused on the importance of ratifying the US Mexico Canada Agreement.


The campaign will highlight how the USMCA is a much-needed victory for farmers and the rural economy. It will focus on Democratic members of Congress from districts with agricultural roots.

A new day brings new hope for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, says National Reporter Betsy Jibben.


Chrystia Freeland, Canada’s deputy prime minister, and Jesus Seade, Mexico’s USMCA negotiator, are due to meet U.S. Trade Representative Bob Lighthizer Wednesday in Washington, D.C., to discuss the “side letter” that would include the changes negotiated with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).


Pelosi says Democratic lawmakers are “within range of a substantially improved” trade agreement with Canada and Mexico. But Jibben reports Pelosi needs to see progress from negotiations put in writing from U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer for “final review.”


“Pelosi has insisted on changes to the agreement that Democrats believe will do more to protect workers and the environment and to make sure the deal’s provisions can be enforced,” Jibben reports...
