LA Lakers join Vegan trend with Beyond Meat

The National Basketball Association’s Los Angeles Lakers has signed up plant-based food producer Beyond Meat as a sponsor.


The brand, which specialises in meat substitutes, will use the deal to promote its products, working with the Lakers to create content and drive consumer engagement.


The tie-up will also serve to promote the company’s pre-existing Go Beyond campaign, which promotes a vegan diet and looks to engage with the wider Los Angeles community.


Beyond Meat already holds established associations with several NBA players, including JaVale McGee of the Lakers. He said: “Shifting to a plant-based diet has been a literal game changer, and I’m excited to have my two favorite LA brands partnering to make plant-based eating not only delicious, but accessible.”

Basketball team the Los Angeles Lakers recently announced a new partnership with plant-based food company Beyond Meat.


The partnership is a part of the vegan brands “Go Beyond” campaign, which is designed to encourage more sports fans in the US to try plant-based eating.


“We are excited to team up with one of LA’s most iconic brands to engage our local community” announced Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat.


Brown hopes the new relationship will “further amplify awareness of our delicious plant-based meats that serve both body and planet.”


Tim Harris, President of Business Operations for the Lakers, also spoke of his excitement at the collaboration.


“Anytime we can align with a company that is looking to improve the wellness of our players, as well as our fanbase, we think it’s a very good fit and we look forward to a great relationship with Beyond Meat.”
