An animal rights advocate repeatedly stabbed a woman inside a church because she was wearing fur boots, it is claimed.

Meredith Lowell - who was previously caught trying to hire a hitman to kill fur wearers and last year stabbed a woman - has been charged with attempted murder in the church attack.

The 35-year-old allegedly stabbed the victim twice in the arm and once in the abdomen in front of children before being pinned to the floor by a church staff member and parishioner.

Witnesses heard a woman screaming before the victim - a babysitter who was dropping off kids for a choir practice at Fairmount Presbyterian Church - was stabbed with a kitchen knife, according to police.

Children who witnessed the attack were moved into a safe area by staff as Lowell, who has a history of mental illness, was held.

When police arrived on Wednesday evening, officers arrested Lowell and found the victim holding a wound on her left side as she lay in a pool of blood inside the church...

Cleveland Heights police report a female animal rights activist stabbed an innocent woman at the Fairmount Boulevard Church. Why? Because the victim was wearing fur boots.

Meredith Lowell is a 35 year old "Woman" of Cleveland Heights. She has been charged with attempted murder and felonious assault for stabbing the victim on Wednesday at Fairmount Presbyterian Church.

When police arrived to the church they found the victim lying inside of the church and holding her left side after being stabbed twice in the abdomen. A nearby good Samaritan was holding the suspect on the floor in an effort to prevent her from fleeing the scene. She was then taken into custody.

The victim volunteers as a child caretaker for parents involved in the church choir.

Witnesses report the suspect was screaming belligerently before the volunteer was violently stabbed...
