If you get the impression that McDonald’s wants to be all things to everyone, you just might be right.

It tries to lure upscale burger customers with fresh beef, then brings back its dollar menu.

It plays catch up to Burger King, White Castle and countless other restaurants with a plant-based burger called the P.L.T., which it is testing in Canada.

And then, for Americans, it dials up the way-back machine.

Did you know that McDonald's used to sell something called the McHotDog? Or a sandwich made out of pineapple? Or that there used to be cherry pies sold alongside the apple pies? These aren't limited edition or secret menu items or things you can hack at individual McDonald's restaurants; these are canceled McDonald's food items and unlike the McRib, we don't think they'll ever come back (even though we wish some of them would).

The fast-food giant tests new menu items at different restaurants, which is why some of these canceled McDonald's foods may be among your fondest memories and why you've never heard of others.

In the midst of a wedding day whirlwind, it can be hard for newlyweds to find time to eat, but one bride and groom pre-empted the problem with a pitstop at McDonald's after their ceremony.

Reuben, 25, and Hayley Szekely, 22, of Clitheroe, Lancashire, shocked customers when they entered the Rawtenstall fast food establishment in all their finery.

Luckily, the couple's wedding photographer Paula Mottram was on hand to capture them as they devoured chicken nuggets, cheeseburgers and chips

And after she posted the images to Instagram, the couple won praise for the quirky touch to their wedding day.

Alongside a pictured of the pair, Paula explained: 'If you need a cheese burger, you need a cheese burger.'

Posting two more snaps of the happy couple to her social media account, she added: 'The staff at McDonald’s were amazing!  Everyone in the restaurant had their phones out taking photos. I think we made their day!

'But what a fun couple. I just love it when couples want to do something out of the ordinary.'

Reuben and Hayley were travelling from their ceremony at Kingdom Hall in Rawtenstall to their wedding reception at The Old Hall Hotel in Buxton, when they stopped for the cheeky takeaway.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, revenues assistant Reuben revealed: 'We had joked about doing it, saying “Imagine if we went to McDonald's”.'

Recalling the experience, he added:
