North Texas man arrested for cattle theft

FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. (KXII) - A North Texas man was arrested after turning himself in for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 in cattle and property in June.


Josh Briggs, 22, turned himself in on September 15 after an investigation by the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.


TSCRA said in a statement the investigation began after a rancher in Fannin County noticed a padlock cut and several cattle missing.


Law enforcement says they were notified a silver pickup near the scene had been seen pulling a trailer full of cattle.


Police recovered seven head of cattle as well as stolen trailers and lawnmowers from Bryan, Lamar and Fannin Counties.
