Minnesota producers attending their annual Pork Congress in Minneapolis this week are expressing concern with the continual pressure put on their industry by animal activist groups.

Pork President Kevin Hugoson says their goal this year is to educate consumers and others about the proper animal welfare practices they utilize to raise their animals.

Hugoson says despite pressure from some of their customers to dictate pork production and housing practices, choice needs to be left to the individual producer and his group will keep fighting for that.

He says his group wants consumers to remember most producers follow NPPC’s We Care Program and use the best science based and humane methods when raising their animals.
