SD governor extends hauling of wide bales
December 27, 2012 By Julie Harker - Brownfield
While the South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard has extended, by executive order, permission to haul over-width baled livestock feed, there are still several highways where they cannot be transported.
The executive order allows truckers to move bales 12 feet wide or 15 feet high for two hours after sunset and two hours before sunrise. Itís in effect until the drought emergency ends, or, no later than February 21, 2013.
The South Dakota Ag Department says there are several highways where road construction or permanent structures cannot accommodate large loads. Truckers, therefore, are urged to check their routes ahead of time for any restrictions.
