Australian organic
wool growers, are being called apon, to help UK retailing giant Marks &
Spencer to go green.
As part of their marketing strategy, M&S are moving to
make more of their product lines environmentally friendly.
Asked by Kerry Penfold, for www.wool.com ,
if organic fibers are a fashion trend or a long term customer desire, Graham
Burdon, who is M&S sustainable textiles and cotton specialist, said “the
answer is still unclear. At Marks and Spencer we are treating it as a strategy,
if my customers want organic, we have to find it. More and more we are reading
about climate change and more people want to know how their clothing is made.
It would be to dangerous to move all our clothing to
organics, because of the risks with supply”.
Demand for organic wool, is now coming from counties that
have embraced organic living, such as
