A lawyers’ organization has sued the Agricultural Ministry for refusing to reveal a list of U.S. beef processors who were found to have violated quarantine standards when exporting their products to Korea.

The Lawyers for a Democratic Society asked the ministry to make public a list of U.S. beef processors who failed to abide by Korea’s new quarantine standards that took effect in June.

The ministry rejected the request and decided not to reveal the violators.

The organization said the ministry’s decision to keep the information under wraps undermines a law which requires the government to reveal information related to public health.
