The only sector of the meat and livestock industry globally, that is unaffected by the economic crises, is trade with the Gulf States.

The Australian livestock shippers, cannot keep up with the demand for live sheep from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Live-corp are the main shippers to the government of Bahrain, and have offices and a base in the small Kingdom.

Gary Robinson of Wellards Rural Exports, said the demand this year is the best in many years for the heavy Australian wethers.

The trade to Indonesia has been fantastic this year for Australia,  according to Gary, however it has yet to be seen, how Indonesia will combat the global downturn.

The Middle East countries, simply adore the Australian mutton, that arrives live to be slaughtered in their own countries.

The fresh vacuum packed meat from New Zealand, is now proving very successful, however the frozen product is still not readily accepted by buyers.
