The American Meat Institute Foundation, in partnership with
other industry organizations, will present two upcoming opportunities for
plants to learn more about how to develop control strategies that not only
satisfy regulatory agencies, but more importantly, can have a meaningful impact
on the safety of their products.
The first event, the webinar “Top
The webinar is part of a summer educational series sponsored
by The American Meat Institute (AMI), the National Meat Association (NMA) the
North American Meat Processors Association (NAMP) and the American Association
of Meat Processors (AAMP).

The second, more in-depth event, the Prevention of E. coli
O157:H7 for Beef Further Processors Conference, is
slated for September 16-17 in
This conference, sponsored by AMIF, NAMP, AAMP, NMA and the
Beef Industry Food Safety Council (BIFSCO) will bring together the top experts
on E. coli O157:H7 from academia, government and industry to discuss what steps
plants can take to improve their control programs for E. coli O157:H7 and meet
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) expectations. Available technologies
and best practices will be discussed, along with practical recommendations for
improving HACCP plans and prerequisite programs.
Scheduled speakers include Dan Engeljohn,
Ph.D., deputy assistant administrator, FSIS Office of Policy, Program and
Employee Development, and experts from the International HACCP Alliance and the
Beef Industry Food Safety Council.
