Shifting load of cattle causes truck to roll, killing 37 cows along Hendry County road

Thirty-seven cows were killed along a Hendry County road Wednesday when the animals shifted inside the truck hauling them, forcing it to roll over.


The Florida Highway Patrol said a commercial motor vehicle hauling 95 cattle was driving north on County Road 833 north of Zipper Grove Road.


The truck's driver reported that as he entered a curve in the road, the cattle shifted left forcing him to steer right in an unsuccessful attempt to maintain control.


The truck traveled off the roadway, through a ditch, and overturned on the northeast shoulder. Thirty-seven of the cattle died...
