Semi carrying pigs near Corsica tips over in one-vehicle crash

CORSICA—A semi truck carrying a load of pigs tipped over Monday afternoon in Douglas County, resulting in the closure of a state highway.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the one-vehicle crash occurred at 2:20 p.m. on South Dakota Highway 44 about 5 miles southwest of Corsica. Jake Jesser, 35, of Twin Falls, Idaho, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt 579 semi traveling westbound on State Highway 44 when the vehicle entered the north ditch. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle tipped over.
