Trudeau, Trump talk about China

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and United States President Donald Trump had a telephone talk recently about China.


Trudeau asked Trump to use his influence to procure freedom for two Canadians being held in Chinese jails.


And he also asked again that Trump remove tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum and gain ratification for the trade agreement among Canada, Mexico and the U.S.


Top-level Chinese officials are continuing trade negotiations in Washington.


There was no mention about the possibility that Trudeau asked Trump to pressure China to ease its trade-hindering moves against exports of Canadian canola, soybeans and pork.
