More charges filed in cattle deaths in Fillmore County

GENEVA, Neb. — An Exeter man is facing nearly a dozen more charges on top of ones he was charged with in April after hundreds of cattle were found dead in Fillmore County.
Aaron Ogren, 30, had his charges amended to include 11 more charges, for a total of 40 felony charges files. They break down to one count of theft by unlawful taking, nine counts of prohibited sale of livestock, and 30 counts of cruelty to animals.
The Nebraska State Patrol said Ogren was arrested by Fillmore County Sheriff’s Deputies on April 9 without incident. NSP said earlier that day, an arrest warrant was issued for the original 29 charges.
Investigators said they found more than 200 deceased cattle and one deceased horse on Ogren’s property near Exeter. More than 200 living cattle were also removed from the property after having been found in questionable to poor condition. NSP said those cattle...
