1 dead in crash involving car, cattle truck in Butler County

BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. One person is dead following a head-on collision in rural Butler County.

 

The crash happened just before midnight on K-196 near Potwin.

 

The Butler County Sheriff's Office says a semi hauling cattle and a passenger vehicle collided head-on. He says one of the vehicles crossed the center line, though investigators haven't determined which one.

 

The driver of the passenger vehicle was killed in the crash, the driver of the cattle truck was not hurt.

 

Deputies say there were nearly fifty head of cattle in the semi at the time of the crash, around a dozen of them died. The others were either stuck inside the semi, or wandering around a nearby wooded area. Deputies warn drivers in that area to be on the lookout...
