Meat Market Update | Primals pull cutout higher

The weekly average Choice cutout, which includes all types of sales, including the daily Choice cutout was $222.22. This was $4.74 higher and was helped by all of the major primals that were $3-8 higher. In fact, the Choice loin primal was $8 higher as more steaks are purchased for grilling. This is still the early part of the grilling season, but it always has a strong positive impact on cutout value and prices for feedlot cattle.

 

There were 5,828 total loads sold for the week, which was 811 loads lower than the previous week dropping quite a bit on the heels of much higher prices. To give some perspective, t is over 1,000 loads lower than the average for the last three weeks.
