Designed as a web-based search and display system Ellinghuysen,com focused on news and information related to the North American red meat industry. Ellinghuysen.com was a family venture that used its own proprietary internet search system in combination with its web display model. Aric Ellinghuysen developed the unique search/display/distribution technology. Richard Ellinghuysen acted as editor by scanning, processing, and managing content on a day-to-day basis.

In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. Section 107, all material Ellinghuysen.com distributed and displayed was done so without profit for those who had an interest in receiving the information for research and educational purposes.

Although it was their wish to continue to provide Ellinghuysen.com to their readers, Richard severely injured his shoulder making that impossible. Going forward you may wish to check out MeatFYI.com a meat/livestock industry website Richard and Aric were instrumental in establishing.

About the Ellinghuysens

The Ellinghuysen’s have been involved with the electronic distribution of meat-based news and information for more than twenty years. From 2001 to 2002 Richard created and operated "FYI" an email based ag information distribution system and then in 2003 along with Aric, developed MeatFYI.com. From 2003 to 2021 they operated MeatFYI.com (and the MeatFYI Daily e-newsletter). Richard operated it privately from 2003 until 2004 and then transferred ownership to the Institute for Rural America, a nonprofit organization. In 2005. Richard with Aric’s help developed TheLivestockBrief.com (and the TLBrief e-newsletter) for the Institute and operated it from 2005 until 2021. From 2004 through 2021 Ellinghuysen.com provided beef and pork data feeds, e-newsletter distribution, technical and editorial support to the Institute.

Richard and Aric were born in the Midwestern United States on a diversified "classic family farm”.

Aric has been involved in software/website/network engineering, programing, and information technology for over twenty years. He is the IT Director at a commodities/finance firm. Previously he worked for a telecommunications corporation where his work was patented and generated millions in profits for the company. Aric graduated with Highest Honors from ITT Tech, then Magna Cum Laude from Bellevue University with three technology majors.

Richard has been involved in US agriculture and the food industry for more than forty years. He developed and is currently managing a business division for an established marketing, credit and commodities trading organization. For more than seventeen years, he served as an advisor to the USDA and US Trade Representative's office as a member of the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Animals and Animal Products (ATAC). Richard also served on the Agricultural Advisory Committee to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for five years. He was as a member of the Board of Directors at the National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) and also on the Board of Directors at the Nebraska Vocational Agriculture Foundation (NVAF) - home of The Leadership Center. He is Director Emeritus at the Institute for Rural America. Richard spent several years as an agriculture Commodity Risk Management Specialist providing advice, as well as hedge and contract related products to livestock farmers and processors. He produced a successful "turnaround" of a livestock marketing division; spent several years as the Director of Program Development for a commodity marketing organization; and acted as Corporate Business Advisor to a diversified membership / agricultural organization. Richard studied marketing and economics at Chadwick University and strategic planning and distribution systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the 1990's Richard was named "One of Ten Outstanding Young Iowans" by the Iowa Jaycees.
